The government in Sri Lanka said on Tuesday that it will donate 25,000 U.S dollars to the government of Myanmar to assist victims of the recent cyclone.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the government is also considering sending a team of doctors and nurses to the cyclone affected areas to provide medical assistance and care to those in need.

A devastating cyclone struck five provinces of Myanmar last weekend, killing at least 15,000 people and leaving 30,000 missing.
