Indonesia is hoping Myanmar will respond more openly to the international humanitarian assistance to help the country recover from the last Saturday's cyclone, a spokesman said Friday.
"We do hope that the Myanmar government will be more open so that we know what kind of assistance is needed most, and we can deliver aid more appropriately," Foreign Affairs Ministry's spokesman Kristiarto Soeryo Legowo told reporters at his office here.
Seven Indonesian journalists working for local and international media have been denied entries to Myanmar despite recommendation from the Coordinating Ministry for People's Welfare.
The Myanmar Embassy here said its government could not guarantee the safety of foreigners in the country at the aftermath of the cyclone attack, which has left more than 62,000 people dead or missing.
