The South Korean government on Monday warned its citizens not to travel to Sudan due to security concerns caused by the recent conflicts in the African country.

"We advise you not to tour Sudan as it will surely take time for the situation to return to normal after the recent exchanges of gunfire resulted in a curfew in Khartoum and other areas," the South Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also urged South Korean residents in Sudan to refrain from outings and contact South Korea's mission there to secure their safety.

It said none of the 98 South Korean residents in Sudan have been hurt so far.
