The Philippine left-wing rebel force New People's Army (NPA) claimed on Sunday its members have killed 32 government troops in Mindanao, southern Philippines, over the past two months, reported local television network GMA News.

The TV report quoted NPA spokesman Rigoberto Sanchez as saying that dozens more government soldiers were also wounded and two captured in Mindanao in the past two months.

The 5,700-strong NPA is the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines waging guerrilla war against government forces in the countryside for nearly four decades.
