Nepali gov't declares public holiday to celebrate republic day

Nepali government has decided to declare public holiday on May 28 and close government offices and offices of public corporations and Nepalese diplomatic missions abroad to celebrate the day on which the first meeting of historical Constituent Assembly would take place on Wednesday.

According to the National News Agency RSS report, the government has also decided to carry out illuminations at the evening at all government offices and offices of public corporations, Nepalese diplomatic missions abroad and educational institutions and urged all political parties and civil societies to celebrate the republic day in grand manner.

The interim parliament in January had decided that the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly will implement republic.
