The historical first meeting of the Nepali Constituent Assembly (CA) has been put off until 15:00 local time (0915 GMT) Wednesday.

The CA meeting scheduled at 11:00 (0515 GMT) Wednesday morning has been postponed to Wednesday afternoon, Xinhua was informed by a Nepali parliamentary secretariat official, who did not tell the cause of the putting off.

The meeting is expected to formally declare the implementation of a federal democratic republic in the country, ending the 240-year institution of Shah Monarchy.

A number of the newly elected CA members have reached the CA meeting venue at the International Conference Center (ICC) in the Nepali capital Kathmandu.
