Bomb blasts at gate of CA venue in Nepali capital

Two bombs blasted in Nepali capital Kathmandu on Wednesday evening at the gate of International Conference Center (ICC), where the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA) is expected to be held.

The first blast occurred at 20 p.m. local time (1415 GMT) at the gate of the ICC, while another was 15 minutes after. No casualty was reported.

The first meeting of CA is expected to be held in the coming hours.

Leaders of Youth Communist League (YCL), the youth branch of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) claimed they have held two suspects.

Meanwhile, Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala arrived at the ICC at around 19:10 local time (1325 GMT), one hour after CPN-M Chairman Prachanda arrived. The two leaders are reported to have talks inside the ICC.

There is heavy presence of security forces outside the venue of the ICC.
