Japan and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will hold unofficial working-level talks in Beijing on Saturday, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura said Friday.

Akitaka Saiki, director general of Japan's Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, is expected to meet Song Il Ho, the DPRK's ambassador in charge of normalization talks with Japan, on such issues as the resumption of stalled bilateral working group negotiations under the six-party framework.

The two sides are to meet at 03:00 p.m. local time on Saturday at the Japanese Embassy in Beijing.
