Thailand's Interior Minister Chalerm Yubamrung on Tuesday called on People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) to use parliamentary means to fight politically.

In a statement, he suggested that the group should propose a motion to the parliament if it wants to oppose the charter rewrite, because it is a better way than blocking streets and staging protest.

His statement came after 61 senators backed the motion to open a debate to scrutinize the government.

The PAD members and supporters have been holding a demonstration on May 25 demanding the ouster of Samak and his government near the ceremonial entrance of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) headquarters.
