Bangladesh police contingent to join UN peacekeeping in Kosovo

A 120-member contingent of Bangladesh Police has left here for Kosovo to join United Nations peacekeeping mission there.

A press release reaching here on Thursday said the contingent, which is first Formed Police Unit (FPU) of Bangladesh Police on Kosovo mission, left late Wednesday night by a UN charted flight.

It said members of Bangladesh Police force are performing well in peacekeeping missions in different troubled corners of the world, including Kosovo, East Timor, the Democratic Republic Of Congo, the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire and Sudan.

Bangladesh is the second largest contributor to the UN peacekeeping operation. Some 9,199 Bangladesh peacekeepers are now working in 14 missions.
