The monsoon rainfall has hit the Indian capital of New Delhi with rainfall. It is the earliest monsoon to arrive in Delhi in 108 years as it comes a record 14 days ahead of its normal date of June 29, according to NDTV report Sunday.

Available weather records in Delhi date back to 1901 and not once has monsoon hit the city before June 16.

The minimum temperature recorded Sunday morning was 27.5 degree Celsius, two notches below normal while the maximum temperature hovered around at 33 degree Celsius, four degrees below normal. The maximum temperature settled at 33 degrees Celsius Saturday.

The weatherman described it as pre-monsoon showers and forecast a generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rains or thunderstorm in the coming days. Heavy rains are also expected in some areas.
