India will tighten the norms for vehicle exhaust emissions from April 1, 2010, Indian Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways TR Baalu said here Tuesday.

The Bharat Stage-IV norms for four wheelers will be extended to11 mega cities and Bharat III norms throughout the country, Baalu said .

Baalu said that the Department of Road Transport and Highways is in the process of notifying the rules very soon.
