At least 50 people were injured Saturday in a clash between the supporters of Bangladesh's two major parties -- Awami League and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in a village in Magura district, 150 kilometers southwest of capital Dhaka.

Both sides used lethal weapons, the police were quoted by private news agency UNB as saying.

Six people were arrested and separate cases were filed.

There was a long-standing enmity between local supporters of Awami League and BNP over establishing supremacy in the area.
