Counting of votes has begun after the completion of polling for Pakistan's by-elections on Thursday, local TV channel Geo reported.
The by-polls were held for five national assembly and 23 provincial assemblies seats, said the report.
Violence erupted in some polling stations. Foreign observers visited various polling stations in National Assembly-55 and expressed satisfaction over facilities provided by government.
The Geo quoted observer group members as saying that security was beefed up and low voter turnout was observed in the morning.
There are 341 candidates for the National and provincial assembly seats, out of which 59 contestants are contesting for the National Assembly constituencies.
While in a provincial breakdown, 171 candidates are vying for the 12 vacant seats of the Punjab Assembly, 68 for seven North West Frontier Province seats, 25 for three Balochistan seats and eight candidates for the single seat of the Sindh Assembly. Source:Xinhua
