The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will steadily boost its traditional friendly and cooperative relations with the African Union (AU) and its member states, a top-ranking DPRK legislator said Monday.

Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greeting to the AU summit being held in Egypt.

The DPRK fully supports the efforts of the African governments and people to build an independent, peaceful and prosperous continent, Kim added.

The 11th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly is being held in an international congress center in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh on Monday.
