A total of 44 security men who were kidnapped earlier have been released in Pakistan's tribal region after successful negotiations, official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported Tuesday.

The APP quoted Political Agent of Kurram Agency Mohammad Azam Khan as saying that the tribesmen in Pewar village made 44 security men hostage and a 25-member jirga was sent to the tribes for the release for the abductees.

The Jirga members agreed to the demands of the captors concerning opening of all the main roads in the area, removal of Frontier Constabulary, ceasefire between the warring groups and taking back the security forces to their original position in the agency.

The negotiations continued with the captors for eight to ten hours and the security men were eventually released.
