A senior Australian official said here Wednesday his country attaches importance to long-term and all-round cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in economy, trade, science, education and personnel training, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Stephen Smith made the statement during his meeting with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nong Duc Manh.
Smith expressed his belief that the Vietnamese people will record more and greater achievements during the industrialization, modernization, and national construction and development process.
Manh reaffirmed Vietnam's policy of attaching importance to relations with Australia, saying he believed that the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries would be continually strengthened.
The party leader appreciated the Australian minister's visit made when Vietnam and Australia are celebrating the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
