The Japanese government has approved six new cooperation agreements with Nicaragua as part of the Fund of Assistance for Communal Human Safety Projects worth a total of 494,554 U.S. dollars, the Japanese diplomatic mission here said Wednesday.

The agreements between the two countries will support Nicaraguan projects in education, environment, road infrastructurea nd production, the mission said.

The funds will be used for purchase of school furniture, construction of school buildings in several provinces, remodeling of a secondary school, the construction of rural bridges and improvement in sanitation systems.

One of the schools that will be rebuilt is located in the province of Madriz, near the border with Honduras and another in the municipality of San Carlos in the area bordering with Costa Rica.
