The 18-member tribal jirga comprising local chiefs and maliks Saturday returned from the Tirah valley in northwestern Pakistan after talks with concerned elements regarding the government's operation currently underway in the Khyber agency against the militants.

Currently, 92 persons have been arrested and no untoward incident was reported Saturday, according to a press release by the media cell of Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Secretariat.

The government Friday suspended its operation against suspected militants and criminals in the country's northwestern tribal agency of Khyber for 36 hours to allow local tribesmen to meet outlawed Lashkar-e-Islam chief Mangal Bagh and conduct peace talks.

Curfew imposed at Bara, a major town in Khyber since June 28, 2008 was lifted on Friday, it said, adding that ban on the display of arms would remain in force till further orders.

The security forces are patrolling the area and routine check points and nakabandis at various points are intact, according to the private NNI news agency.
