Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda met U.S. President George W. Bush for talks on Sunday, ahead of the annual summit of the Group of Eight (G8) industrialized nations on the northern island of Hokkaido.

Fukuda, who is playing host for the G8 leaders, is expected to discuss with Bush Japan-U.S. ties and other issues that could include the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
