A 4.5 magnitude earthquake shook Aurora Province 150 kilometers northeast of Manila Sunday evening, without causing damage or casualties, said the Philippine institute for Volcanoloy and Seismology (Phivocs).

Philvocs said the quake's epicenter is 103 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora and it took place at 20:01 local time (1201 GMT).

The earthquake, which was described as tectonic in origin, was felt in Metro Manila.

Local TV network GMA News earlier quoted the United States Geological Service as saying a magnitude 5.4 earthquake took place Sunday evening with its epicenter 176 kilometers east-northeast of Manila.
