One soldier of the U.S.-led Coalition forces and six Afghan civilians were injured in Afghanistan's Khost province Sunday as firing rockets and roadside explosion rocked the area, local officials said.

"A roadside bomb planted by Taliban insurgents struck a military vehicle of the Coalition in Ali Shir district today afternoon injuring one soldier," district chief Mujib Rahman told Xinhua.

In addition, a local official Syed Ahmad Wafa in Bahak district of Khost province told Xinhua that 10 rockets fired by militants hit residential areas Sunday afternoon as a result six civilians sustained injuries.

Spiraling insurgency and conflicts have left more than 2,000 people including 700 civilians dead since January this year in Afghanistan.
