The Cook Islands government has asked international donors and development banks to better coordinate development projects, the Pacnews reported on Monday.
Major development partners in Cook Islands are the Asian Development Bank (ADB), New Zealand AID, the European Union (EU) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
ADB's Richard Phelps said the partners are working with the Cook Islands government to put together integrated infrastructure development plans.
The European Union wants to fund water and sanitation development; NZAID wants to continue building ports; the European Investment Bank has plans for the international airport terminal and renewable energy projects; the ADB wants to finance the development of the main port, water and sanitation on Rarotonga.
Phelps said a collaboration between the Cook Islands government and development partners would result in turning offers of aid into quicker concrete action. Source: Xinhua
