Russia's promised food aid to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has been shipped to a border city in the DPRK, the official KCNA news agency reported Wednesday.

The aid, whose quantity was unspecified in the report, arrived at Sinuiju in the DPRK's northern Phyongan Province Monday.

Distributed through the World Food Program at the DPRK, the aid represented the friendship between Russia and the DPRK and was an " encouragement" to the DPRK people, the report said.

The Russian government announced last month that it would provide 2,860 tons of flour to the DPRK.
