The foundation of Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates has donated a 500,000-U.S. dollar grant for the Philippine victims of typhoon Fengshen, media reports said on Thursday.

The grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will be allocated to the relief and rehabilitation of more than 4,000 family victims of the typhoon, the Manila Bulletin said in a report.

Typhoon Fengshen, locally called "Frank," rampaged through the Philippines last month, killing hundreds of people and causing the capsizing of a passenger ship with more than 800 on board.
