Pakistani security forces have destroyed 12 centers of three militant groups in the country's tribal region, the interior ministry said Thursday.
The Prime Minister's Advisor on Interior Rahman Malik said the militant centers were destroyed in Bara, a major town in Khyber tribal agency in a operation conducted by security forces.
The News Network International news agency quoted Rahman Malik as saying that 100 people including 32 hardcore militants were arrested.
He said Deputy Commander of Taliban Muhammad Amjad had also been arrested.
Peace has been restored and people are happy while the tribal elders have been given an undertaking for maintenance of peace and tranquility in Bara, he said.
Security forces launched an offensive against militant groups in Khyber Agency in late June. The operation was later suspended to give way to the peace talks between tribal elders and militants. Source:Xinhua
