A high ranking British official said here Friday his government will continue its support for the new government in Nepal, lead by any party.

British Foreign Office Minister for Africa, Asia and the United Nations Lord Malloch Brown made the remarks upon his arrival at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport Friday morning.

When questioned about support to a Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) lead government, Brown said that would make no difference as the CPN-M were an elected party in the Constituent Assembly polls.

He also reiterated his government's readiness to help the government of Nepal in bringing about peace and development to thepeople of Nepal.

Brown has a busy scheduled Friday due to the election of first Nepali president and vice-president on Saturday.

Brown is meeting Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, different political leaders, civil society leaders, government officials, UN officials and diplomats during his short stay in Nepal. He will return on Saturday.
