A major earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale jolted the sea off the east coast of Honshu in Japan at 10:39 a.m. Saturday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Administration.

The epicenter was located at 37.5 degrees north latitude and 142.3 degrees east longitude, said the Administration.

The figure of casualty is not available so far.
