A pilot of a plane crash in Yogyakarta province of central Java last year that killed 21 people will be tried at a district court of the province on Thursday, prosecutor and court said on Tuesday.
Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes Abdul Hakim Ritonga said that Captain Marwoto Komar, who was arrested in February this year, would be charged under Indonesian criminal and aviation laws.
"He can be charged under both criminal and aviation codes," Ritonga told Xinhua.
Sleman district court official Juani Wibowo said that preparation for the court had been conducted.
"The trial of Komar will be carried out on Thursday," he said.
The Boeing 737, with 140 people on board, skidded off the runaway at airport in Yogyakarta province after landing and then burst into flames in March 2007.
The arrest of the pilot triggered protest by 30 other pilots, demanding the release of their fellow and asking for a separate tribunal for aviation offense.
Last year's report of the country's transport safety commission, or KNKT, said that the plane was over speed during landing, but it rejected to blame the pilot over the accident.
Five Australians and one diplomat were among the death toll.
