The Nepali government has decided to give a public holiday on Thursday to mark the auspicious occasion of the swearing-in ceremony and assumption of their respective offices by the first president on Wednesday.

Issuing a press statement, the Home Ministry said all government offices across the country and Nepal's diplomatic missions abroad will remain closed on Thursday.

Newly elected President Ram Baran Yadav of Nepal, the world's youngest republic, was sworn in on Wednesday at the office of president, Shital Niwas, in the Nepali capital of Kathmandu.
