At least seven people were killed in four days of seasonal downpours that affected southern and central regions of South Korea, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported on Saturday.
In Bonghwa, 400 km southeast of Seoul, four people were buried in a mudslide or swept away in a swollen stream, it said.
Officials said the downpours in Bonghwa measured up to 234 mm on Friday.
In Hamyang, about 50 km away from Bonghwa, two people were drowned in swift currents while fishing and a woman was killed when tons of mud buried her home, Yonhap said.
Yonhap quoted government officials as saying that the heavy rains also left more than 1,200 people homeless in the affected areas.
A major rail line linking Seoul with the nation's eastern region remained closed as part of it caved in under floods, Yonhapsaid.
