Roadside bombing kills one Coalition service member in western Afghanistan Friday morning, a Coalition statement released here said.
A Coalition convoy struck an IED (Improvised Explosive Device),leaving one soldier dead, the statement said.
"Coalition personnel have secured the scene," it added, "the incident is under investigation."
However, the name and nationality of the service member is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
A total of 70,000 multi-national troops are deployed across Afghanistan under the flags of the NATO-led ISAF and the U.S.-led Coalition forces respectively for maintaining stability and helping in reconstruction.
Roadside bombing incidents involving U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan hit their highest level in at least four years between April and June, according to the report of Pentagon released recently.
Afghanistan has witnessed the surge of Taliban attacks on international and Afghan troops during past weeks when the anti-government militants continue to demonstrate their strength through suicide and roadside bombings.
Escalating insurgency and violent incidents have left around 2,500 people dead, with over 700 civilians, since January this year in the war-torn country.
