A strong earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale struck Andaman Islands, Indian Ocean, at 0845 GMT Sunday, the Hong Kong Observatory said in a bulletin released here.

The epicenter was initially determined by the Hong Kong Observatory at 11.0 degrees north latitude and 91.8 degrees east longitude, about 130 kilometers southwest of Port Blair, Andaman Islands.

There has been no immediate casualty report.
