A group of unknown gunmen attacked the vehicle of international aid workers near Afghan capital Kabul, killing three female aid workers and their local colleague, an official said on Wednesday.
Mustafa Mohseni, the provincial police chief, told media that three foreign aid workers and one local Afghan have been killed by a group of unknown gunmen in the Qalah Rahmat area of Puli Alam, the capital of Logar province, 50 km south of Kabul city.
The police chief said an Afghan driver was also injured, however, he did not say when the incident happened.
Earlier, reports reaching here said that the four aid workers were from an organization named International Rescue Committee which has worked with refugees in Afghanistan for 25 years.
No one has yet to claim responsibility for the attack.
In another incident, Afghanistan National Security Forces (ANSF) captured a suspected Arab terrorist and eliminated four insurgents in the south-central Ghanzi and southern Uruzgan provinces.
The suspected Arab terrorist, according to a statement of Afghan defense ministry, was detained from Ghazni province Wednesday morning.
"Personnel of national army captured a terrorist namely Khalid from Bahrain this morning from Qarabagh district, Ghazni province," the statement of defense ministry stressed.
It also added that during investigation Khalid admitted he had come to make Jihad or holy war in Afghanistan.
Moreover, Afghan Interior Ministry in a statement said Wednesday that police foiled rebels' attack against Deh Rawad district in Uruzgan province Tuesday, leaving four insurgents dead.
Taliban insurgents who staged a violent comeback three years ago have intensified their activities across Afghanistan even in the capital Kabul over the past several months to mount pressure on the government.
Conflicts and spiraling insurgency have claimed the lives of more than 2,500 people including militants, troops and civilians so far this year in Afghanistan.
