An unknown number of insurgents on Thursday launched a driving-by shooting against a business man in Thailand's southernmost province of Narathiwat, killing the man, his wife and their daughter. His son was also severely injured, local police source said.

The shooting was happened while the family was riding a car running in Narathiwat. Local police said the armed insurgents riding motorcycles shooting the car with heavy weapons.

Thailand's three southernmost provinces -- Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani -- have been troubled with insurgency-related violence which has claimed more than 3,500 lives since it resumed in early 2004.
