Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said he had the right to defend himself in the face of impeachment while delivering a televised speech to the nation on Monday.

"The impeachment is the right of the parliament, but it's my right to defend it," Musharraf said.

"I am confident that any charge sheet can not stand against me," the president said.
