Two bombs triggered by Thai southern insurgents exploded Thursday night in southernmost Narathiwat Province, killing a local newspaper correspondent and injuring more than 30 others, a local police source told Xinhua.
The victim who was killed on the spot was confirmed as a correspond of the Thairath Newspaper, the source said.
The first bomb was installed in front of a restaurant in Narathiwat's Sungai Kolok district and was triggered by mobile phone signal at about 9:38 p.m. (1438 GMT). The first blast did not cause any injury. However, several minutes later, a second bomb which was planted under a car exploded at the same site and caused casualties.
The source said the injured included reporters of Thai TV Channel 9, local police, officials and residents. Many of them in critical situation.
