Three civilians were killed and seven others got wounded as a bomb planted by insurgents struck a car in Afghanistan's eastern Khost on Saturday, police said.

"A mine planted by anti-government militants on a road in Tanaidistrict hit a civilian car around 11 a.m. local time, killing three men and wounding seven others including three women and four children," Kalim Khan, the police chief of Tanai told Xinhua.

He put the incident on Taliban, adding Taliban insurgents by carrying out such terrorist attacks want to destabilize security in the province.

Conflicts and Taliban-related violence have often been claiming civilian lives in the post-Taliban nation as, according to locals, more than 70 non-combatants were killed in air strikes in Shindand district of western Afghanistan's Herat province on Thursday while U.S. military promised to investigate the claim.

Deputy to the provincial council of Afghanistan's eastern Laghman province Gulzar Sangarwal also said Thursday that air raids left 20 civilians dead and several others wounded in parts of the province.

Skirmishes and violent incidents have left more than 3,000 people, including militants, troopers, civilians and aid workers, so far this year in Afghanistan.
