Pakistan's security forces Wednesday killed at least 30 militants and injured 35 others in fresh attacks in northwest Pakistan, the army said in a statement.
The security forces carried out an operation in Kuza Banda area of Swat valley in North West Frontier Province on the request of the local people, said the statement.
However, Taliban have rejected the government's claim of casualties and said that the figures were exaggerated, according to News Network International (NNI) news agency.
Reports said 10 militants were also arrested in Mingora, a major city in Swat valley.
The army used gunship helicopters and artillery to bomb hideouts of the militants.
In another development, suspected militants kidnapped 25 police recruits in the northwest, officials said. The recruits were on their way to the city of Hangu from Peshawar when kidnapped by the militants near the tribal region of Darra, they said.
No group claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.
The security forces are engaged in a major operation against the militants in Swat despite announcement to suspend fighting during Ramadan starting from Tuesday.
