Rescuers have managed to locate the wreckage of the Philippine air force C-130 cargo plane one week after it crashed into the southern Philippine sea, military sources said Friday.

Citing field reports from Task Force Hercules, Maj. Armand Ricoof the Armed Forces of the Philippines Eastern Mindanao Command said the U.S. survey ship USNS John McDonnell on Thursday night located the wreckage at 1.3 nautical miles east of Bucana village in Davao City, news network GMA News said in an online report.

The C-130 plane, acquired in 1983 through the United States financing program, crashed soon after takeoff from Davao at around 8 p.m. on August 25. The nine crew members on board are still missing.
