A mild earth tremor was felt in Pakistan's capital Islamabad at about 11:50 local time (0550 GMT) on Saturday.

Xinhua correspondents based in Islamabad felt the tremor for three times within two minutes.

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale jolted most parts of northwestern and eastern Pakistan on Saturday, director general of Pakistan's Seismological Department Chaudhry Qamar-uz-Zaman told media.

The earthquake's epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush Mountains, about 300 km north of Peshawar, capital of North West Frontier Province.

It is the second moderate earthquake in Pakistan within two days. An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale also jolted the same areas on Friday.

There is no report of casualty and damage.
