Former Pakistani Prime Minister and chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif Monday said the PML-N wanted reconciliation and would seek a working relationship with the federal government.
Calling on President-elect and Co-Chairman of Pakistan People'sParty Asif Ali Zardari at the Prime Minister's House, Sharif extended his greetings to Zardari, according to private GEO TV channel.
Zardari invited Sharif to rejoin the federal government but Sharif said they preferred to sit on opposition benches in national assembly, lower house of the parliament.
The PML-N filed an application to the speaker of the national assembly. They nominated a senior PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Khanas the opposition leader in national assembly.
Blaming Zardari for breaking promises, Sharif pulled his party out of the ruling coalition on Aug. 25.
Zardari has won the majority votes in the presidential electionon Saturday. Facing a possible impeachment, Pervez Musharraf on Aug. 18 resigned as the president of Pakistan.
