Nepali President Ram Baran Yadav urged all citizens to participate in nation building on Monday.

Speaking at the felicitation of meritorious students of different levels on the occasion of the Education Day and the Literacy Day at his official residence in Kathmandu, Yadav said that it is time to strengthen unity, equality and harmony, and urged people to take part in the nation building by being responsible for the economic and social development and protection of cultural and traditional heritage.

Meanwhile, the government is also due to honor 13 schools in the capital Kathmandu Monday on the occasion of the Education Day.

This year, the Ministry of Education is celebrating the Literacy Day with the slogan "Basis of Democratic Republican Nepal:Rights of Everyone to Education".

Meanwhile, "literacy for all" is still an unaccomplished goal.

In Nepal, only 64 percent of the total population is literate and 11 percent children are deprived of education.
