Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed of the Bangladesh caretaker government Monday called upon all to work together to ensure education for all in the country, according to local media.
While inaugurating programs marking the International Literacy Day 2008 here on Monday, he said all should come forward to take effective steps and collective initiatives to fully free the country from the curse of illiteracy.
He said that there is no scope of wasting time in this regard, private news agency UNB reported.
The country's present literacy rate is 63 percent, while it was34 in 1991, according to data of the country's Primary and Mass Education Ministry.
He also said that education for all is essential to establish good governance in the country and remove discrimination, corruption and injustice from society.
"We have to prove that if we wish we can make any impossible thing possible. Today, this should be our vow to make the literacy campaign a success," said the chief adviser.
