At least 11 militants were killed and seven others injured after security forces launched airstrikes at militants' hideouts in northwest Pakistan on Wednesday, according to private Geo TV channel.

Shells were fired at militants' positions from jet planes in Kozabandi area of Kabbal in Swat valley of North West Frontier Province.

Several houses were also destroyed in the shelling, according to Geo.

The security forces have been fighting militants in Swat valley despite a cease-fire announced by the government during the holy month of Ramadan.
