Five persons went missing after a motorized boat capsized off the Philippines' southwestern province of Palawan Friday morning, the Philippine Coast Guard said on Saturday.
The vessel left Agutaya for Lipanacan, Palawan at 8 a.m. on Friday local time (0000 GMT), with a crewman and four employees of the Philippine National Power Corporation, Philippine TV GMA reported.
The vessel was owned by a certain Henry Liao, according to reaching the Philippine Coast Guard.
The boat sank between the islands of Manamoc and Nangalao, said Armand Balilo, spokesman for the Philippine Coast Guard.
Reports said strong waves and winds battered the vessel before it capsized.
On June 21, a passenger ferry named MV Princess of the Stars sank off the central Philippine Sibuyan Island in Romblon province on at the height of typhoon Fengshen. There were 862 passengers and crew members on board when it capsized, among whom no more than 60 people survived from the tragedy.
