Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Tuesday that the U.S. violation of Pakistan's territory is counter-productive and extremely unhelpful in the efforts towards tackling militants.

While meeting with British Secretary of State for Justice Jack Straw, Qureshi elaborated on the multi-pronged strategy being pursued by the government to fight extremism and terrorism.

The coalition forces are increasing their missile and drone attacks on targets inside Pakistan in recent month, blaming Pakistan's local Taliban for rising insurgency in Afghanistan.

A Pakistani military spokesman said on Tuesday that the army would open fire if the U.S.-led coalition forces enter Pakistan's territory.

The military spokesman, Athar Abbas, said no incursion will be tolerated and military commanders were told to prevent any incursion into Pakistani territory, Dawn News TV reported.

Reports said Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen is due to visit Islamabad on Wednesday over row of recent cross-border raids.
