A service member of the U.S.-led Coalition forces was killed Friday afternoon in a bomb attack in western Afghanistan, the U.S. military said.
The U.S.-led Coalition did not give details or release the nationality of the slain soldier, saying the incident is under investigation.
The multi-national force under U.S. command has suffered a total of 224 deaths in Afghanistan so far this year, of whom 122 are American soldiers, as the Taliban-led militants are increasing attacks on Afghan and foreign troops in the war-torn central Asian nation.
An earlier statement issued by the NATO-led force in Afghanistan said that on Thursday the military killed a civilian in southern Kandahar province as the civilian driving a vehicle failed to respond to warning signals to stop.
Around 71,000 international troops comprising the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and the U.S.-led Coalition forces are deployed across Afghanistan for fighting militants.
