A pleasure boat sank Sunday off Japan's Niigata city, leaving two people dead and one missing, local media reported.

There were 10 people aboard when "Koyo Maru No. 7," a 3.2-ton pleasure boat, went missing at around 10:45 a.m. local time (0145 GMT) on its from Sado Island to Niigata, said the reports, citing the Japan Coast Guard.

The coast guard found nine of those on board at some 18 km off the Niigata city later in the day, but two of them were confirmed dead. And the other, named Shozo Okura, remained unaccounted for.

According to the coast guard, as there was no collision, the accident might be caused by the trouble with the hull.
