Three soldiers and one student were injured when suspected insurgents detonated a bomb hidden in front of a school in Thailand's violence-stricken far southern province of Narathiwat Thursday morning.
The explosion occurred at 8:30 a.m. (0130GMT) in front of the Bango Puloh School in Rusoh district, Narathiwat, according to a report by The Nation news website.
Police said the three soldiers were resting in front of the school when the student dropped by to talk to them and the insurgents detonated the bomb with a mobile phone, the report said.
Insurgent violence, which the Thai authorities have blamed on a separatist movement in the Muslim-majority far southern region in a Buddhist-dominant kingdom, has raged the three southernmost provinces -- Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala since January 2004, killing over 3,500 people in the region.
